No, no, no, no, no!

Tiger Woods is on the cover of next month's Vanity Fair. Need I say more?! I am so over this scandal. Here's to hoping the reporting isn't all hearsay. Give me something new VF, or I'll be very disappointed.

Meryl on Vanity Fair!!

The unparalleled Meryl Streep is on the cover of January's Vanity Fair, and I am jumping up and down!

Streep, the 15-time Oscar nominee (soon to be 16), is undeniably the best actress in her generation (and probably of the ones before and after her generation as well).

I cannot wait to read the article! This issue is going to be a keeper for sure.

VF's Robert Pattinson cover

All of my friends are going gaga over this cover. Robert Pattinson, who shot to international super-stardom after portraying Edward Cullen in last year's film adaptation of Twilight, graces the December issue of Vanity Fair. If you haven't heard of Pattinson, then you must live under a rock!

Although I think he's attractive, I don't fully understand the hoopla surrounding him—especially when the majority of the media coverage is tabloids creating a romantic relationship between him and his co-star Kristen Stewart (ick! I just don't get her appeal at all!).

As always, I can't wait for my copy of the magazine to come, but I'm not overly excited to read about Twilight.

Jackie on VF's October cover

Jacqueline Kennedy is the focus of Vanity Fair's October issue, but I believe the real "star" will be Levi Johnston, the father of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's grandson. Bristol Palin's baby daddy tells all in the new issue.

I'm not sure yet what to make of the article. I know Johnston took a media tour through New York during the summer, but I basically took it as a joke. Not to say I'm on the Palins' side, but I saw him as someone screaming for attention by going on talk shows—much as Jon and Kate Gosselin have been doing lately. It makes me wonder why we even care, and why I was somewhat surprised Vanity Fair would have an article featuring him.

It's interesting to see the inside story of politicians, but Palin is no longer a politician. Palin was fun to poke fun at during the election, but the election is over, and frankly I wish the media would keep her out of the spotlight.

I will read the article, and post another entry about it if I have a different take on it afterward.

On a side note: I love the Kennedy archive, which I just found online. This is the second Kennedy to grace the cover and the fifth story on the famous family since I started subscribing in June 2008.

Simply gorgeous

January Jones and Jon Hamm couldn't look any better than they do in this month's Vanity Fair shoot for an article about their hit show, Mad Men. I haven't watched an episode (though I've been meaning to get into it), but I can appreciate the beauty of these two people! Make sure you check out the behind the scenes video too!

Fallen King, Fallen Angel

Vanity Fair has unveiled previews of its September cover stories: tributes to Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett, who died on the same day last month. I am so excited for the new issue to come out! (so typical). To read previews, click here.

A week in NYC

Sorry for the lack of posts, readers. I have spent the last week in New York City with my family - a little post graduation trip - that allowed limited Internet access. I did post an entry for the UWIRE Help Wanted blog while I was on vacation, however. Check it out here!

Now that I've returned, I will be making regular posts again while seeking a job. I'll get back to the pop culture links and other news items that I usually post, like this one from Vanity Fair Editor Graydon Carter about the state of the newspaper industry.

Or this one, also from VF, about Prince Harry's trip to NYC, which happened to be at the same time as my trip. And you know how I know? Not the news stories that reported his arrival, but the fact that I saw him there - IN PERSON!! He was leaving Rockefeller Center, and I got a picture of him! It was awesome!

Stay tuned for more updates and links as I find them. Now that school's over, it's summer and I'm looking for my first post-grad job, I think I'll have a lot of time on my hands.

Ooo, can't wait to read this

Bernie Madoff's secretary of more than 20 years, Eleanor Squillari, co-authored a 9,000-word article in Vanity Fair's June issue. I'm still waiting for my copy to arrive.

Jessica Simpson on VF cover

Hmmmm ... Jessica Simpson is on the cover of Vanity Fair's June issue. I'm not exactly sure what to make of this. In the late 1990s I was a huge JSimp fan. That was pre-Nick Lachey, pre-"Newlyweds" on MTV, pre-Cowboy-dating drama, pre-fat scandal. Now, I'm not sure a shift to country music elicits the cover of VF. I guess I'll have to wait to read the article. Maybe it will make more sense after I read it. Thoughts?

Interesting....

Vanity Fair pointed out this interesting cover of Lexean magazine, which features President Barack Obama. According to VF:
"The president, envisioned as the head of the Celestial Kingdom, wearing what appears to be the ceremonial robes of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty. Qianlong reigned for 60 years, from 1736 to 1795, and (cheap irony alert!) was known for his poetic speech, his fiscal policy of economic growth through government spending, and his four-volume compilation of the history of China known as The Four Treasuries."

Emily Blunt's VF portraits

Actress Emily Blunt looks absolutely regal in her recent Vanity Fair photo shoot. She currently stars in the film "Sunshine Cleaning" with Amy Adams and "The Young Victoria", a biopic on Queen Victoria of England, which has only been released in the UK thus far. She's gorgeous!

West Side Story

Broadway is bringing back West Side Story, the NYC musical take on Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, and Vanity Fair is helping launch its comeback. Jennifer Lopez, Rodrigo Santoro, Camilla Belle and Ben Barnes lend a hand in recreating Tony, Maria, the Sharks and the Jets for VF.com. The photos look beautiful!

VF Love

Here I go again with my Vanity Fair love, but I can't get enough of their posts each day, especially when they have anything to do with the Oscars.

Today, the site put up slideshows of portraits of Academy Award-winning actors and actresses in the leading category—portraits that have been in past issues of VF. I only started subscribing last May, so seeing this old photos is really cool!

Freida Pinto, March's Vanity Girl

In this month's Vanity Fair (still anxiously awaiting my Obama-covered copy) actress Freida Pinto, who plays love interest Latika in "Slumdog Millionaire", is featured as a Vanities Girl

From the red carpet interviews, dance-infused talk shows and now the photo in VF I've seen, she is as lovely off-screen as she is in the movie. If you haven't seen it yet, here is my advice: Get in your car, hop on a bus, take a taxi; pay $5-10; and see the movie! See the movie now before it likely wins Best Picture Feb. 22 at the Academy Awards.
